Newsvine Faster Than RSS

advertisement

I checked Shrook, the very excellent RSS reader, before I came to Newsvine tonight. There was very little in the way of new NFL news (both ESPN and SI).
I came to newsvine.com/nfl and found out: Shaun Alexander re-signs with Seattle, Isaac Bruce and (almost) Kerry Collins were cut, as well as the article for which I was originally looking.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I'm curious, did you have to seek out the story on Newsvine or did you subscribe the the sports feed and get the article there that you wanted?

I am new to Newsvine and like what I see so far, just curious as to how others are using the site.

I just went to http://www.newsvine.com/nfl and there were the headlines.

As for how I'm using Newsvine: 1. going to the NFL page; 2. clicking on random topics; 3. after seeding an article, I check out similar articles/comments
