This is a curated list of articles, seeds, photo/video posts and comments for the past two weeks. The series will combine the use of Newsvine's "thumbs up" as well as the minds of the Newsvine team. As always, meta articles about the proper use of the site will be ignored for this feature. Those tend to get both the most upvotes, as well as the most flags.
You missed a busy week. It's time to catch up.

BD Styers writes "When Does Life Begin?"
By looking at the figure, I can see there's no distinct beginning or end. There is a continuous cycle of life. What does that mean for us humans? We interrupt the life cycle when we interfere with it. In fact when we do it, some times we call it murder, some times execution if we have the license, some times we call it suicide, and some times it's abortion.

Obviously, no economic system is perfect because they are all burdened by the imperfections of those who participate in them. But despite its flaws, I believe intelligently regulated capitalism to be the best of them, primarily because of its incentives and rewards. In a capitalist system, degrees of innovation, knowledge, talent, well thought out choices, hard work and character are rewarded with compensation that ranges all the way up to great wealth. I wrote this post on a tablet that contains the software necessary to compose it. I sent it through a wireless communications network to a cloud of machines, networks and software that brought the post to whatever device you happen to be using. If this capability were to happen at all without capitalism, it certainly wouldn't happen as well nor would it occur in as timely a manner.

Quote of the Week: They knew many things but had no idea why. And strangely this made them more, rather than less, certain that they were right. - Neal Stephenson, Anathem
