This is a curated list of articles, seeds, photo/video posts and comments for the past two weeks. The series will combine the use of Newsvine's "thumbs up" as well as the minds of the Newsvine team. As always, meta articles about the proper use of the site will be ignored for this feature.
You missed a busy week. It's time to catch up.

Sparrow-2863685 writes "This Dog of Mine"
And my dog, as always, is here to comfort me at the end of each day. He reads my mood and knows whether or not to even "ask" to get in the Jeep and go somewhere for a run. Always ready to sympathize, always ready to lay his big old head in my lap, always ready to pick up a toy and make me laugh or make me play, always knowing exactly what I need at any given moment and complying with fervor.
Soph0571 writes "It's Political Correctness Gone Mad!"
Fundamentally, calling someone PC is just another way the dissemblers try to shut down the conversation. Individuals who are at odds with the bigoted, are often called politically correct by those who resent people who not only disagree with their bigoted stance but who also attempt to put pressure on said bigot to re-examine his or her conduct. Political Correctness exists for a reason and they hate it because it challenges their privilege.
Nicola Nasser writes "Smashing the Abbas icon of Palestinian non – violence"
It is true that Abbas cannot yet be called the Ghandi of Palestine. He has yet to follow in the footsteps of the founder of modern India and deliver similar national results by leading a massive popular revolution for liberation and independence, but his strictly adhered to non – violence platform continues to be the prerequisite for any peaceful settlement of the Arab – Israeli conflict in and over Palestine.

Two comments from "The 'I am not a racist because Islam is not a race' nonsense."
While I may not share their beliefs, i respect what others consider holy: I would never deface another's holy book, or defile another's place of worship. When visiting a Church or a Mosque, I attempt to be mindful enough to be moved by the devotion of the believers. If you are a cynic, you can liken it to the "suspension of disbelief" we practice when moved by the fiction of a motion picture or the humanity expressed in a work of art.
Religion permeates Western architecture, art, literature and music. It would be foolish to try and wipe out that history (as the rabid extremists were trying to do in Palmyra or those trying to banish any traces of Buddhism in their midst).
I don't think it's unreasonable. But I think you are deceiving yourself.
I'm liberal by nature. But many liberals here on the vine use extremely broad strokes when talking about the Christian right. It's simply not right. If we acknowledge that religion making secular law government is not to be tolerated (which we do) then why would we tolerate it in one religion but not in another?
Islam, as practiced in most Islamic countries, interferes with secular law and has wrong practices. I find it reasonable to tell Muslim people that.
Quote of the Week: “If a hiker gets lost in the mountains, people will coordinate a search. If a train crashes, people will line up to give blood. If an earthquake levels a city, people all over the world will send emergency supplies. This is so fundamentally human that it's found in every culture without exception. Yes, there are assholes who just don't care, but they're massively outnumbered by the people who do.” Andy Weir, The Martian
So who's going to make next week's Best Of? What did we miss?
